Christiane Luedtke. Vivere è cambiare, cambiare è vivere
Starting point of the exhibition but also of the recent artistic career of Luedtke is the work die Last (the weight) created in 2009. A really material artwork, in wood and wax communicating heaviness as its title says. That same oppressive heaviness that must have characterized Christiane Luedtke after her husband death when in addition to the emotional suffering as often happens there has been also the difficulty of managing daily organization, economy etc. But as Christiane says you must have patience. And returning to the poetry written by Rilke you must "mature as a tree which doesn’t force its sap, and stands confidently in the storms of spring, not afraid that afterward summer may not come. It does come." And so it has been. And with patience and confidence, also for Christiane it came Spring and then Summer, and so gloomy and heavy material becomes light and transparent. The darkness and the timber opacity give way to clarity, purity, to the visibility of Plexiglas. It is not a change of little consequence: the transparency is the property of a body to let light passing through, that is, to be as it appears, frank, sincere, with no longer need to hide or hide. Wir gehen nicht verloren (we do not get lost) and Mobilé (mobile) both created in 2016 represent well this new balance which is the major force of change in Christiane's life and artistic practice and that if it cannot make her light as the air, makes her as the girl who expect (Mädchen, wartend) a work that Christiane realized after observing a girl in station waiting for the train. She appeared serene, at peace with herself and the world while she was watching the sun warming the soul. Goethe in "Elective Affinities" (Die Wahlverwandschaften) states "There is no surer way of evading the world than by Art; and no surer way of uniting with it than by Art.
