Developed as part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Real Academia de España en Roma, the exhibition marked the culmination of a dialogue with Michelangelo Pistoletto that had begun a few months earlier with the installation of Pozzo Specchio inside Bramante’s Tempietto.

Three works — Pozzo Specchio, Venere degli stracci and Tavolo del Mediterraneo — traced a journey through some of the ideas at the heart of Pistoletto’s practice: identity, participation, regeneration and the possibility of transforming difference into a space for encounter.

Bringing these works into dialogue with the history and architecture of the Academy meant considering art not as something separate from life, but as an active form of relation and responsibility. From the individual reflected in the mirror to the Mediterranean conceived as a shared space, the project moved progressively from the I towards the We.
