Every wave that breaks upon the shore is a rupture: a moment in which the continuous movement of the sea is interrupted, before withdrawing and beginning again. Land and sea thus become two polarities in constant relation — the solid and the fluid, permanence and transformation — and the boundary that separates them ceases to be a line and becomes a space of encounter.

It is within this perspective that Roberto Ghezzi’s work takes shape. Through his Naturographies, the artist allows nature itself to intervene on the surface of the work. The canvases, immersed in water or placed along the coastline, gather sediments, organic traces and mineral deposits: the sea inscribes upon them time, matter and the transformations of the environment. The work thus becomes a living archive, generated through the encounter between human intention and natural agency.

Rethinking Ruptures therefore proposes looking at the sea not as a boundary, but as a threshold: a space of co-creation, listening and possibility, capable of questioning our relationship with the landscape and opening up new forms of connection between art, environment and knowledge.
